Grounding practices for Winter

Blog-winter-grounding.jpg

I am someone who loves to get my bare feet and full body on the earth daily as that really recharges my energy and my creativity and also helps me to release any built up energy that doesn’t serve me. I find that Winter can be the most challenging time to stay grounded and connected to nature as we are indoors more often and this year I have noticed it more than ever because throughout the past year I have gone even deeper with my daily practices and my connection to Mother Earth.

You may live in a climate where the sun is out most of the year, yay for you, but if your live in a colder climate like me then you might also experience the dreary, wet and uninviting days that seem to stick around forever!

So I decided to rethink my daily practices for Winter and how they can really work for me during these colder months and I wanted to share some of the these practices with you!

I suggest giving these a try and then choosing 1-2 to do each day and the others you can do when you feel called to!

  • My favourite is going outside soon after I wake up and connecting with the day. No matter what the weather, I love going outside and smelling the clean crisp air and connecting to the sky!

  • Walk in nature and as you do really take in what you see and smell and enjoy appreciating all of the nature around you.

  • Hold your crystals or anything from nature as you meditate and as you do feel how simply you can be connected to nature without actually having to be outside.

  • Drinking any kind of plant or herb like peppermint, camomile, nettles and as you drink it acknowledge that this is also a way to be connected to nature as you bring the goodness of it inside your body.

  • Listening to nature sounds through music or during meditation.

  • Rugging up and going to the beach, get your bare feet on the sand and in the water even if its only for a few moments!

  • When you are outside in your garden or on a walk actually touch the nature around you! So many of us just walk past a tree without actually looking at the tree, without taking in the magnificence of this beauty that was once just a tiny seed!

So these are just some of my favourite grounding practices that I like to do in Winter that I wanted to share with you! We don’t have to stop doing what we love as the seasons change, just find new ways to embrace them!
